By Jan Oberg It’s high time for EU and NATO allies to develop a different policy on Iran. It must not only disagree diplomatically with the unethical and international law-violating U.S. primary and secondary sanctions. It must represent an alternative that clearly isolates the U.S. But do we see any signs that they are able to? Do these countries actually have more political action permission and capacity – not to speak of intellectual capacity to think independently – than had, say, the Warsaw Pact countries vis-a-vis the Soviet Union at the time? TFF director Jan Oberg on Iran’s PressTV, November 14, 2018:

Sweden
An interview with PressTV about what has happened in Sweden and – at least some – reasons why. Apologies for the bad sound quality which was beyond our control. I do not feel good about being that close to John Bolton (above), but what can I do? 🙂

By David Swanson TFF Associate David Swanson delivers, in his usual crystal clear and well-documented manner, the arguments against higher U.S. military spending and illustrates how much better it would be for the U.S. itself and for the world to reduce the military expenditures and allocate even just a fraction of these incomprehensibly huge sums to constructive purposes. TFF is proud to inform you that David has been awarded the US Peace Memorial Foundation’s 2018 Peace Prize. Congratulations, David! So well deserved.

By Jan Oberg Commenting on Iran’s global PressTV why the US sanctions against Iran are one big violation of international law and why other countries should resist all pressures from the US and its threat of imposing its secondary sanctions on them – remember Trump’s tweet that anyone who does business with Iran will not do business with the US. This behaviour – including the attempt to suffocate 85 million innocent Iranian citizens – is an unacceptable type of policy as well as a gross violation of human rights. Decency, ethics and simple fairness should compel the world to tell the US that on this one it stands alone. The burden here is very high on the Euopean Union. In passing, let me say that I am happy to work with PressTV. I’m always being treated with respect and gratitude and over the years not one attempt to manipulate...
MikoPeled
Video interview with Miko Peled of July 20, 2018 We strongly recommend that you go to Peled’s excellent blog, see his articles and video and read about his now classical book, “The General’s Son. Journey of an Israeli in Palestine.” You’ll also find an interesting one on his recent visit to Iran and how people react to his going to Iran. And why not subscribe to his blog? Here is civil courage, analytical mind, passion and truth in one, a man who knows – compare that with the mainstream media’s coverage of the issue that are his.

By Jan Oberg Will Europe to continue to bow to US demands now that Trump has withdrawn from the Iran Deal? That’s the question John Wight asks of peace researcher Jan Oberg, on this week’s program. A conversation with John Wight of “Hard Facts” at Sputnik Radio, May 16, 2018.

Given all the world crisis we face as humanity, the message Ina Curic conveys is existentially important and gives hope to big and small alike. JOSyria
, speaks with Russia Today and points out why this type of behaviour is totally unacceptable: It violates international law, undermines the UN and brings Syria, the region and the world further and further from peace. The people behind it and their media and other supporters must be perceived as either conflict- and peace illiterate or advocates of criminal activity. Both of which are tragic and making already dark times darker. We must say stop and argue: Peace first – The Secure the peace. In addition, contrary to the Western/NATO belief this is self-destructive and self-isolating. The international so-called community is, for the large majority, not behind this type of policy.
PressTV
Comment by Jan Oberg With a focus on the Saudi war on Yemen, this episode of PressTV’s News Line takes up the larger problem of the “weaponization” of conflicts that makes them almost impossible to solve. Syria would be another good example of this insanity. Jan Oberg has argued before that governments and private arms traders who transfer arms to places where there is war already ought to be perceived as war criminals. But today, most see only politicians and military commanders as such. See comment 5 here.
