There is no doubt that people want to hear more about peace possibilities than about war, that they have heard enough doom and gloom to cover up for NATO’s own warmongering and blaming everything on one side in a conflict, namely Russia. February 24, 2024, marks the second anniversary of the tragic Russia-Ukraine war – with its underlying conflict between NATO and its reckless expansion on the one hand and Russia on the other. The China Academy has produced some new videos with me – and those we made last year are still to be posted here. They have been seen by an estimated hundreds of millions around the world in about three months! In this one, I address various aspects of the – predictable – fact that the US is now receiving a series of blowbacks, or boomerangs, because of its reckless policies beginning with the attack on Afghanistan on October 7, 2001 – as the thoroughly wrong-headed response to what happened in New York and Washington on September 11 that developed into the Global War On Terror, perhaps the most foolish war project in modern time. The amusing thing is that it’s been viewed by 11,000 people in a few days, and less than a week later, there are 160 comments, 99,99 % positive about the whole thing. I note a frequent comment from Ania’s viewers: Where have you been hiding, Jan? How come I did not hear about him before and that sort of “we never heard about him…” comments. This is striking after having been the co-founder and director of the Transnational Foundation since 1986 – and quite active in doing research, on-the-ground conflict mitigation work and having written thousands of articles, book chapters and comments. Discuss problems and improvements as part of the celebrations Jan Oberg December 10, 2023 I was asked by American-French Michèle de Gastyne, who runs Musique Universelle Arc-En-Ciel in Paris, to do a short video about human rights for a seminar she also organises on the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of the Declaration. Michèle works with a strong inspiration from the Japan-based lay Buddhist organisation, Soka-Gakkai and in the spirit of President Daisaku Ikeda, who has also been a TFF Associate since 1995. Daisaku Ikeda (1928-2023) was a Buddhist philosopher, peacebuilder, educator, author and poet who dedicated his life to promoting peace through dialogue and spearheaded the development of the Soka Gakkai as a community-based Buddhist organization of over 12 million members worldwide. However… Professor Mearsheimer gave it at the March 24, 2017, Israel Lobby and American Policy conference. One indicator of good versus bad research is the degree to which predictions turn out to be right. Most Western researchers on international affairs whom decision-makers take inspiration from must, therefore, be incompetent, if not lousy, scholars….
