After the long stand-off against communism, victory seemed as total as it was sudden. But the west has since fractured and is now losing prestige and influence – does the reversal expose a moral defeat?

    Very interesting article by Anatol Lieven. Though I would be thankful if Lieven could tell what source in Marx’s work, he refers to in his statement: “Marx himself made exactly the same mistake in his portrayal of a permanent socialist utopia after the overthrow of capitalism.”
