Independent OAN Investigation Finds No Evidence of Chemical Weapon Attack in Douma

This reporter, Pearson Sharp, tells you what he believes he knows and does not know. He tells you how he did his investigation and whether or not he felt free to report from this very difficult site – in Douma, Ghouta in Syria, after the alleged chemical attack on April 7, 2018 which caused the U.S., Britain and France to bomb what they believe to be chemical weapons facilities and stores in Syria on April 14, 2018.

Being on the spot with that sort of quality reporting lends more credibility to this report than the far majority of reporters, editors and media that did not do their own investigations but quoted someone else – leading, as it often does, to dangerous “group think” and uniform, dependent reporting in support of an already constructed media narrative.

Mainstream media in the bombing countries and their allies – NATO members – have been particularly deficient in terms of critical, independent investigation. Perhaps understandable to some extent, they have the propensity to present facts, perspectives and commentators that reinforce their own governments’ policies.

The fact that this report by an independent, private TV Channel in the U.S. speaks so strongly against everything mainstream U.S. media have told you should make any viewer think twice about what we have been told – and why.

I’d like to direct you attention too to Robert Fisk’s report from there too published on the same day in The Independent here. Strangely, this eminently experienced, legendary reporter with one of the best “pens” in the trade seems somehow surprised and slightly unable to believe what he sees – and have little idea, one feels, about the essentially important role of the terrorist affiliated White Helmets. I wrote one of the first very comprehensive analyses of the White Helmets in November 2016 and there is no good reason to be surprised today.
